The Team

We are actively seeking experienced candidates to lead our Global Network Operations team that supports FlexTrade’s Global based Operations.

As a financial services technology vendor that delivers mission critical Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) to our clients, FlexTrade’s Network Operations is vital to our business and foundational to customer success. You will be a vital asset to the leadership of FlexTrade’s IT Operations, who play an integral role in the business, keeping our revenue generating SaaS environment free from downtime. This ensures we can deliver a high level of service to our diverse set of clients, including large asset managers, hedge funds, banks and brokers which in turn maintains FlexTrade's reputation as a market leader in Electronic Trading space. The Network Operations Lead will lead a team of 2+ team and a potential outsourced NOC team. This role will report to the Head of Global Infrastructure (based in Great Neck, NY).

About You

The Network Operations Lead will be responsible for a managing a team of Network Operations engineers who will support FlexTrade’s network Infrastructure 24x7. This role is accountable for leading a team managing a production network. You will be called upon to be the technical representative for your team during major incident and troubleshooting of Network related issues. Success in this role will require strong and innovative approaches to problem solving, great technical leadership, excellent communication (written and verbal, formal and informal), flexibility, accountability and a self-motivated working style with attention to detail.


The Job

As Network Operations Lead for Network Operations Center (NOC) team, you will be responsible for managing a team of Network operation engineers. The team is part of a global Network engineering organization and will drive Network reliability and ensure that the most critical outages to our business, guest, and team members has prompt recovery, and effective communication to stakeholders.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Provides leadership in network operations support in a 24/7 operating environment.
  • Manage the full end to end technology life cycle within the network space
  • Work as part of a global network team monitoring and troubleshooting low latency network environments across several continents
  • Maintain and validate quality network service by establishing and enforcing managed hosting standards, metrics and best practices
  • Support internal and external customer requests
  • Plan, design, and work with Vendors to build, install and configure new network capabilities to meet the needs of the business
  • Anticipate risks and constraints and proactively develop solutions to address the risk/constraints
  • A consultative approach to all major activities and projects. Including the ability to effectively and accurately document requirements and develop clear execution plans
  • The ability to plan and script complex changes within the Network infrastructure.
  • Patching & upgrade management of networking devices
  • Participates in change control committee, providing input into all changes/additions to network to ensure minimal disruption to production system.
  • Identify and delegate ways to create efficiencies in supporting clients, internal communications, and process development and refinement.
  • Forecasts potential issues within technical solutions and provides proactive remediation options for consideration.
  • Resolves any scheduled maintenance or major outage issues escalated from direct reports.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of Engineering work experience
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in Network troubleshooting in a 24x7 Operations Center
  • Minimum of two (2) years of direct management experience
  • Ability to supervise and motivate others
  • Ability to work with others to resolve problems, handle requests or situations
  • Proven experience of network design and implementation
  • Advanced networking knowledge such as OSPF/BGP routing, MPLS/VPLS, TCP/IP, Firewalls, routing, switching, IP subnetting
  • Extensive experience with Cisco switches and routers
  • Detailed understanding of network security, including Firewalls, VPNs, Proxies, DDI
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent Linux skills focussed on networking
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible would be an advantage

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, and / or equivalent work experience
  • CCNP/CCIE certified or equivalent
  • RHCE, CompTIA certified or equivalent experience desirable
